What is The Big Event?
We're glad you asked! TBE is a campus-wide day of community service, in which about 3,000 students, faculty, and staff will volunteer throughout the city of Lincoln. The ASUN Student Government is proud to say that The Big Event was started at UNL in 2006 and has been growing ever since. It has built a greater relationship between the University and the Lincoln community. Students are able to interact with Lincoln residents and organizations. This kind of involvement and civic engagement is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable servant leadership skills.
When and where is The Big Event this year?
The Big Event will be held in the spring semester on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Students will meet at the City Campus Recreation Center, in the Coliseum gyms, for breakfast before going to their job sites and for lunch after volunteering.
Can I donate something beside money?
Absolutely! The Big Event can utilize any form of donation, including food, drinks, utensils, tools, trash bags and cleaning supplies. Food establishments are also welcome to make monetary donations in the form of gift cards as well. Or, businesses and vendors can sell to us at a discounted price as a form of donation.

What are the incentives of being a sponsor?
We have three tiers of sponsorship and each level has its own benefits. These can be seen by going to the sponsorship main page or click here. The biggest incentive is getting your company name or logo on TBE marketing materials that will be seen by a large majority of the UNL student body, before and after the event as well. Not to mention being a part of bettering the Lincoln community and fostering service-oriented engagement among college students!
How do I become a sponsor?
GREAT QUESTION! All you have to do is fill out a sponsorship form on our website! The form can be accessed from the Sponsorship main page or click here.
How does payment work?
We have a couple different payment options:
- Pay debit/credit online when filling out the sponsorship form (payment must be in the amount of $250, $500, or $1,000)
- Deliver cash or check to the SOFS office. This can be any amount. You can mail or hand deliver to:
Is there a deadline to become at 2017 TBE sponsor?
There is not a deadline, but the sooner the better! We will accept all donations anytime before the day of the event. However, if you are interested in getting your company name and logo on marketing materials, you will want to submit your donations before t-shirts and banners go to print.
The projected date for the finalized t-shirt design is Friday, March 3, 2017. Banners and posters are made throughout the year to promote the event.
